A Seizure is not Epilepsy
04:05am EST, 16 Mar 2006
Seizures have been reported in nearly all dog breeds; where a seizure is defined as a transitory disturbance of brain function. Often the seizure reflects an isolated incidence and does not signify epilepsy. Recurrent (chronic) seizure activity defines epilepsy. Idiopathic epilepsy (primary epilepsy) describes recurrent seizures with no discernible cause. Because a dog has a seizure does not mean that the dog has epilepsy!
Epilepsy affects more than 30 different dog breeds:

I just wanted a dog!
04:01am EST, 16 Mar 2006
In 1992 after 2 years of "homework" to find the perfect dog, I choose the Belgian Tervuren. I found Woodlawn Belgian Kennels in Illinois and waited for a puppy. I didn’t know whether to get a boy or a girl, but my breeder - Julie Pierce said I was to get the girl. After all, she was the breeder; she had experience in placing puppies correctly, knew her puppies and knew I did not have experience in living with a dog. I never had a dog... ever! No dog experience! And, Belgians were noted to need owners who knew when they were being bamboozled by their puppy!
